Description: Kruun is a fairly tall, atheltically built young man who's none too harsh on the eyes. With stunningly dark brown hair that never seems to be where it's supposed to be, yet always seems in place, he seems like the kind of guy who'd get along just about anywhere there's food to eat and something to drink. His clothes aren't fancy, but are never too drab either, just the sort of 'inbetween' that allows him to live and move comfortably in any situation. Well, almost any. He has striking grey eyes that almost always reflect the stone cold nature the color represents. Slightly tanned, smooth arms and face take up the majority of what people see of his skin, except on the rare occasion where his shirt is destroyed or ripped in a fight.
Personality: Despite his ever so charming appearance, Kruun is a harsh, somewhat unfeeling boulder amongst a field of lofty blades of grass. He doesn't like to get close to people, and doesn't let people get close to him, but it's all for a good reason. Kruun doesn't want people to get hurt because of him. His 'other self', Vallait, he knows would be a constant threat to anyone who ever got close to him, so Kruun keeps them all at bay. Because of this need, he's become an amazing pretender and can put aside any emotion at all in order to appear apathetic towards anyone and anything that he might need to. The only person Kruun's even allowed near him is Ralph, the bartender who took him in as a child when he ran away from home to protect what was left of his family after Vallait's first attack. He loves a good fight, and whether or not this impulse is driven by one of the other two inside of him is still a prominent question in Kruun's mind. Constantly questioning and searching for a way to truly become himself again, Kruun is one of those guys who's chosen to become a lone wolf out of necessity, but he's really a kind guy at heart.
History: As with any 'lone wolf' protagonist, Kruun had a tragic upbringing. He was born prematurely in a time and age where medical science could do little to keep him alive, much less actually save his life. His parents, desperate to keep their first born son alive, sought for a way to make their baby healthy so that he could enjoy life, and luckily came across an Immortal by the name of Criix. Criix, and uncaring and rather egotistical Immortal, was offered anything he desired if he would just save their son. Intrigued only by the immense sense of desperation the couple showed, Criix agreed to help him, just so long as they promised him the boy's life after he was done. Happy to oblige if it meant the chance of seeing Kruun live, the couple allowed Criix to do whatever was necessary to make right what was wrong with their son.
Strangely enough though, as the Immortal touched the babe's head in order to transfer some of his infinite life force into him, Criix was sucked inside of the young child, his soul becoming locked inside of the body of the mortal boy. The parents were shocked to find that Criix had vanished so suddenly, but when they looked upon their son's peaceful, smiling face, they practically forgot all about him, assuming that it was all somehow part of the man's plan for what had transpired to happen.
So, for the next several years, Kruun grew up as any normal youngster would. Well, almost. His childhood was riddled with strange occurences, blackouts that he couldn't explain where he'd wake up somewhere miles from where he'd last remembered. They often only happened during times when he was emotionally overloaded though, giving rise to the suspicion that perhaps he had some sort of spell on him which caused him memory loss during those times of heightened anxiety and whatnot. Also, despite his frailty at birth, Kruun was abnormally strong and could, to everyone's amazement, produce a glow around his hands which made him incredibly powerful in comparison to his already wondrous strength.
One night, when young Kruun was only about 7 years old, he was walking along through the back part of town, enjoying the night as he always did when he came across a most peculiar sight. A tall, slim man had a woman pinned against the wall and was talking to her in harsh tones. Not aware that there was ever anything to fear in the world, Kruun called out and asked what was the matter. The man, as it turned out, was a vampire and he became startled by this sudden intrusion, so much so that he relased his captive who made away into the night. Seething with rage, the vampire quickly turned and Kruun found himself being held by the throat in a crushing grip. On the verge of death, the young boy remembered only the feeling of his wind pipe collapsing before being slammed into the ground where most of his ribcage shattered. With the boy nearly dead, the vampire figured it was time for a treat, since his meal had gotten away, and bent down to pick up the body. As Criix had though, he suddenly found himself sucked inside the young boy, his life force merging with Kruun's and his regenerative ability working its magic to keep them both alive.
When he woke up the next morning, Kruun was surprised to be alive, and part of him wondered if it had all been a dream. His neck was still fine, and his body had not a scratch on it, not even some of his old scars, which made him feel slightly awkward. Either way, he returned home and resumed his life for the next few days.
There was a strange new voice in his head though, not his own, but that of the vampire, who called himself Vallait. It was a bit unusual for Kruun, but, at the same time, oddly comforting to have this extra person to talk to at any time he wanted, even though Vallait wasn't much for polite speech. Then, Vallait came out.
It was a quiet day, peaceful, at least it was supposed to be. As Kruun sat at home, eating dinner, he felt weak and strange. Like he wasn't himself. Then, his body changed, and he was only in his mind. He watched and mentally screamed as Vallait killed his younger siblings, and then his father with ruthless abandon. Just as his crimson hand raised up to strike down his terrified mother, Kruun forced Vallait back into his mind, and he became himself again.
His mother shook with fear, suddenly afraid of her own child and struck with grief at the loss of everyone else she had held so dear to her. Kruun was appaled at all he had seen and his helplessness to do anything about it, so he ran. He ran until his legs would no longer carry him, and collapsed somewhere near the center of town, over a mile from where he lived.
When he came to, a kindly man was washing his face with a damp cloth. This man would come to be his guardian for the next 16 years. It was Ralph, a bartender who'd said he found the child passed out and figured that any kid like that needed some taking care of. Unable to go back home, but needing some place to stay, Kruun agreed to live with Ralph at the tavern, just so long as Kruun helped out and Ralph never tried to interfere with his personal business. Since then he's done just that, hiding his other side from everyone, even Ralph, and doing all he can to control Vallait, which has gotten easier over the years. He hopes to find a way to get rid of Vallait, but, so far, there's no end to his curse in sight.
Abilities: Kruun has the truly extraordinary ability to absorb souls in order to sustain his own life. When he is on the brink of death, so far gone that most people would give up, he can suck in and 'merge' with anyone who touches him. So far, this has only happened twice, and both times have exponentially increased his strength and ability to perform nearly any task.
Due to his absorbtion of both an Immortal and a Vampire, Kruun can imbibe as much alcohol as he pleases and never become even slightly drunk. In coupling with this, he somehow can also predict exactly what kind of drunk a person will be simply by looking at them. If nothing else, both of these habits impress bargoers, and keep Ralph happy by attracting new paying customers, and keeping many that come.
